Although Cancer Researches have been progressing successfully in the past and at this present day, it is still hard for scientists to model and take approximations of the ratio of inherited and non-inherited cancer. A new model of multistage carcinogenesis has emerged and provides this approximated ratio by showing the amount of tumour suppressor loci(TSLs)stopping cancer in a given tissue is dependent on its vulnerability to undergo pre-reproductive somatic mutation, that is cells outside the dedicated reproductive group, which are not usually transmitted to descendants.
As the size of the tissue increases causes the vulnerability of the tissue to increase, the genes responsible for controlling the cancer can be limited to a group tiny embryonic retina.
"The model is used to approximate the occurances of alleles mutations caused by inherited cancer based on the population genetics of the mutations-selection balance between new mutations arising and selection that eliminates them. The frequency of mutant alleles causing inherited cancers, based on the population genetics of the mutation–selection balance between new mutations arising and selection that eliminates them." Quote.
