Nicholas Christakis and other researchers at Harvard Medical School suggested that whether a person is in a centre of attraction or at the edge of social gathering is influenced by his/her genes.

After studying information on friendship and connection between people of more than 1000 adolescents who are twins, researchers found that social networks are more similar among identical twins. According to researchers, identical twins have the same genetic information, and that’s the reason of this result. This result is supportive to the theory that genes control a person’s popularity. At the same time, researchers added that if a person is in centre of attraction, the risk of getting disease might be higher than a person who likes to stand aside. On the other hand, however, those people in centre of attraction tend to have better friendship and information than those who are not.

It will be a great discovery, if this is proved that genes are related to a person’s sociability. Now, further research is conducted, and it will be soon to know new functions of genes.
