Qi, Genetics, Chinese Medince

In traditional Chinese culture, Qi is an active principle forming part of any living thing. It is frequently translated as "energy flow," and is often compared to Western notions of energeia as well as the yogic notion of prana. The literal translation is "air," "breath," or "gas"

However, Qi in Chinese medicine comes with many different types. There are type of Qi where it is converted from foods we eat and ends up energizing our body (Food Qi). There is Qi that we breath in to regulate the Qi balance in our body, Qi's for the 5 main organ (elements IE. Wood, Fire, earth, metal, water) and Qi that is Inherit from our parents.

Many of the genetic disorder diseases are referred, in Chinese medicine as, not enough Qi that is inherited from the parents. The main methods that Chinese medicine tackles this problem is by giving the patients Chinese herbs that reinforce & replenishes Qi. Base on this theory, many experiments were done recently to support this treatment.

Kanglaite(KLT) injection is an anti-tumor new drug which extracts from Chinese medicine-coix seed with modern advanced pharmaceutical technology, it is also a new biphase extended-spectrum anticancer medicine, the food and drug administration(FDA) of United States also approved a phase II trial of KLT to test its efficacy in treating non-small-cell lung cancer.

KLT induce apoptosis of cancer cell by way of up regulating the expression of p53 gene, Fas gene, Caspase-3, PCNA, p21WAFI/CIPI and down regulating the expression of cyclin A, cyclin E1, cyclin F gene.

Coix seed is commonly used herbal medicine that reinforce the Earth(Guts) Qi. By reinforce earth Qi, we can help with the production of Food Qi. We can not generate the Qi that is inherited from our parents, but absorbing Lots of Food Qi can make up some of the loses.

There are More then 60 type to different Chinese herbs that regulate & enforces Qi. I believe by research and experiment, we can find out more about the herbs, and how they might be able to regulate genes and find cures for genetic disorder diseases.
