curing infertilty

In New Jersey, America they have conducted an experiment on an infertile women to make her fertile. They took the mitochondria from a fertile woman and inserted it into the infertile woman’s oval. The infertile then successfully gave birth to a healthy child. According to the experiment the child contained both the donated gene and its parents’ genes. There is still much debate about this because of the effects that could happen later on in the child’s life.
There is also a debate about it being allowed in other countries due the ethical implication that occur by conducting the experiment. This was the first successful experiment of its kind and until recently it has been a secret. However due to the scientists in America claiming it as a success they believe that it should be public knowledge. This experiment is the first step on the way to genetically modified babies and this is the main ethical issue that it encounters. The whole topic is still considered shaking but in the eyes of the scientists in New Jersey they have done something remarkable.
