Early domestic animals were surprisingly well bred

This article discusses the success of our ancestors in the domestication of wild animals and how domestication has changed certain phenotypes of the animals. It mentions how the number of different genotypes in the wild animals increased dramatically after domestication. For example, before 5500 years ago the coat colour of horses were generally limited to reddish-brown or black coats. However, after domestication, a whole new range of coat colours emerged.
